Bejeweled Hand Mirror DIY

Every glamour girl I know needs a bejeweled hand mirror on her dresser.  This one was super easy to make and I got most of the supplies at the dollar store.  I was going to add some jewels to the handle, but I thought it might get in the way so I kept them on the upper part of the mirror.  I'll bet you have tons of broken jewelry pieces you could use for this project.  If not, head the the jewelry section of the dollar store and go nuts like I did.  I'm thinking this might be a perfect bridesmaid gift, too. 

My mom is going to love this!

Dazzling!

You'll need

Hand mirror

Various jewelry pieces

Wire cutters

E-6000 glue (the best stuff) 

Gather your supplies 

Clip off any earring backs or pins with the wire cutters 

 Play with your arrangement until you're happy with it.

 Carefully glue on one piece at a time 

with a generous amount of E-6000 glue

 Make sure to only glue one piece on at a time!

Finish by adding pearls and gems in the open spots so that none of the 

back of the mirror is exposed.

 You're done!

Crystal Cluster Jewelry with Dimensional Magic!

I discovered Mod Podge Dimensional Magic from Plaid a while ago and I have not stopped playing with it since. This stuff is MAGIC!  As a rule I work on wax paper surfaces because glue doesn't stick to it and I figured out that you could glob on Dimensional Magic on the wax paper and it would peel right off.  Well, after that, my mind was racing and this is what I came up with! I hope you enjoy working with it as much as I do!

Here's the how-to video!

You'll need:

Wax paper

Mod Podge Dimensional Magic

Bobby pins

Flat back gems

Jump rings

Earring wires

Chain

Needle nose pliers 

Prepare a flat surface with wax paper 

Place a bobby pin as shown 

Lay flat rhinestones on either side of it but not toward the loop at the top 

Drip the Dimensional Magic over the gems so that the glue is touching all of the pieces. 

Add more gems on top of the bobby pin and to cover up the bottom of the pin. 

Create a matching set for earrings, a large pendant for your necklace and two side pieces for your necklace with two bobby pins as shown 

 Let dry over night

Peel them off of the wax paper when they're dry 

Glue more stones to the back of your earring pieces 

 Add jump rings and earring wires to create the earrings

Put your necklace together with jump rings 

You're done!

Recycled "I HEART YOU" Garlands

It's true, I have a hard time tossing out old magazines.  Stacks of magazines make me sad because I know that they could become everything from bowls of paper beads, a super cool collage or even a Valentine's Day"I HEART YOU" Garland.  For my Valentine's Day party this year, I'm decorating with tons of garlands made from magazine pages and a few pieces of red paper.  Instead of buying tons of glitter hearts and pink streamers I'm going to use what I have to make the party magical.  Even if you're having a small dinner for two, these paper garlands will make the night a little more special.  Just don't get them too close to your candles.  Happy Valentine's Day!

A little up close shot

YOU'LL NEED

Scissors

Red paper

Magazine pages

Sewing machine

Red thread (if you have it)

Rip out a stack of 5 pages 

Cut them in half 

Fold the stack of 5 pages in half 

Cut out stacks of stars 

Cut out small stars from the red paper 

Alternate stitching red hearts and stacks of hearts  

Finish with 3 red hearts for your tail

Fold open the stacks of hearts to give them dimension and then hang.

Mold and Cast OR Blue Baby Bindi Bangles!

My friend Simone (www.FaveCrafts.com) and (@spazzgirl on twitter) truly wonders why I'm obsessed with baby doll heads.  She seems to be more obsessed with the fact that I'm obsessed with them than I am actually obsessed with them. Does that make sense?  It's early!  Truth is I am TEAM BABY HEAD all the way. I like to work with things that have a soul, a life, expression.  I like faces and shapes that represent living things. It's my "thing" you could say.  If you're not team baby head, that's fine.  You can use this technique to make molds of anything!  Check out the Smooth-cast 300.  You will LOVE this stuff!  Also check out the mold making putty from Ranger.  It makes a reusable rubber mold in 10 minutes!  Finally, you must get some of these Lumiere Metallic Paints. They are just beautiful.

Baby Bangles and Clutch

Ring close-up 

Blue Baby Bindi Bangles

 Here's what you'll need:

Smooth-cast 300 (Amazon.com)

Melt Art Mold-n-Pour molding putty (Createforless.com)

Lumiere Metallic Paint (Createforless.com)

E-6000

Paintbrush

Plastic spoons

Plastic cup

Metal bangle

Ring flat

Baby head or object you like

Mix equal parts of the putty together and knead them together as quickly as possible (1 minute is good) 

Create a ball 

Take your object (make sure it's free of dirt) 

Gently press it in to your ball 

In 10 minutes you'll have a reusable rubber mold! 

Mix equal parts of your Smooth-Cast 300 (such great stuff) 

Pour in to your molds and let sit for about 15 minutes 

Remove your hardened plastic pieces 

Paint them with the Jacquard Lumiere paints 

 When dry, glue them to your bangles

and to your ring flats.  Add some rhinestones, too.

Go Team Baby Head!
