Tea Light Paperweights DIY

I have TONS of glass candle tea light holders....Too many in fact!  It was time to either get rid of some OR come up with a project for them.  I finally decided on paperweights!  Now if you're crafty you know that a good paperweight is always needed.  I use them for holding fabric when I'm cutting AND for my stacks of papers which seem to fly away when the AC turns on.  These are terrific because you can fill them with any image you want.  Antique photos would be perfect for this project!  Just make sure to copy them with a laser printer at a copy shop.  If you use inkjet copies, you'll need to coat them on both sides with a clear acrylic.

YOU'LL NEED

Laser printed images

Glass tea light holders

Famowood Glaze Coat

Scissors

Glitter

Plastic cups

Disposable wood stirrers

 Laser print your images

Cut them to fit inside of your glass tea lights

 Pour equal parts of Glaze Coat into two separate cups

Stir thoroughly for 5 minutes

Fill the tea light 1/4" full

Place your image face down and tap in place 

*You'll be seeing the image from the bottom

Fill the tea light the rest of the way

Add 1/2 teaspoon glitter and stir

Let cure overnight outside or in an unoccupied part of the house

Lucite Money Table DIY

Not long ago I saw a terrific Lucite table filled with twigs.  It got me thinking about how you could get the same effect with resin.  This side table is the result and I have to say, I think it's pretty funky!  Now you might not be the type to fill it with fake $100 bills, but maybe you would fill it with photos, glitter or faux flowers?  Heck, it would look amazing just clear!  It's up to you.  For this project I used Famowood Glaze Coat because it dries absolutely clear.  Make sure to do this project outside where you have plenty of fresh air.  I mean it!

You'll need

Famowood Glaze Coat

30 Fake bills

18" x 24" acrylic box frame

TV tray table with removable base

Minwax Polycrylic

Plastic cups and containers to mix the Glaze Coat

Gloves 

 Coat your fake bills with Minwax Polycrylic.

When they're dry, cut them out.  You'll need about 30 of them.

Remove the base from your TV tray table

 Prepare 2 cups of the Glaze Coat

Pour equal parts in two plastic cups

Stir in a separate container for 5 minutes!

 Pour the Glaze Coat Resin inside the acrylic box frame and spread evenly with a stick

Carefully place your fake bills face down on the resin

Insert the table base into the frame

Mix another two cups of Glaze Coat

Pour it in the frame and spread it evenly

Cover the table with a cloth and let it cure overnight

*Mine cured more quickly because 

of the heat outside
