Drippy Paint Thrift Store Table Makeover

This table was sooooo ugly that I actually felt bad for it!  It reminded me of something you might see in Ceasar's Palace in Vegas, so I bought for 10 bucks and it sat in my work space for a solid month before I tackled it.  What the hell, it was time for a challenge!  Even though this didn't end up as part of my decor, a good friend snagged it for her art studio and she loves it.  As far as I'm concerned, that is a success story!  Try to tackle something that makes you feel creatively challenged every once in a while because you never know what you'll learn.  Oh, and don't forget to Make Your Mark!
My drippy paint experiment
I love how the colors blend into each other!

Watch how I did it here!
STUFF I USED
Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint
Old Thrift Store Table
Sponges
Spray Bottles
Americana Decor Crème Wax & Light Satin Varnish
Americana Decor Metallics in Antique Brass (my fave)
HERE'S HOW
1.  Paint the entire table in Antique Brass
2. & 3.  When dry, coat the details with the clear creme wax and let dry
4.  Paint the top of the legs with the chalky finish in Bestow
5.  While the Bestow is still a bit wet, wipe it back with a damp sponge to expose the gold while letting the color drip down the legs a bit
6. - 8.  Mix Renaissance chalky finish with water in a spray bottle and spray the top of the legs allowing the paint to drip down over the Bestow
*Use a brush toward the top to blend it a bit and expose the gold
9. & 10.  Mix the Treasure chalky finish with water in a spray bottle and spray the very top of the legs allowing it to drip down into the Renaissance and blend a bit with a brush to expose the gold
11. Paint the entire top of the table with more Treasure, wipe back with a sponge to expose the detials and let dry
12. Coat the entire table with Americana Decor Light Satin Varnish and you're done!
Fresh!
Enjoy!

Cardboard Mosaic Table with Gel Press

This project took a couple of days to make and it was worth it!  The longer a project takes to make, the more likely it is that I'll have it in my home for years to come.  Recently, on a fantasy furniture shopping expedition, I saw a 1960s mosaic table made with beautiful blue and green tiles.  It was $3000 dollars and as much as I LOVED it, I'd rather spend that kind of money on a  hair transplant and some new shoes.  Still, I couldn't get it out of my head.  Cut to me using my Gel Press to create cardboard tiles that had a very similar feel.  A thrift store table and some Glaze Coat and I had a 60s inspired mosaic table sitting in my living room!  I love it much more than the one I saw, too! Remember to find ways to create something if it's out of your budget and of course, always
MAKE YOUR MARK!
Styled and ready for company!
 Bare and beautiful!

Watch how to make it here!
STUFF I USED
Thrift store table
Famowood Glaze Coat (2 part epoxy resin)
Cardbaord & Masking tape
Sticker Paper (I used 11 sheets to cover this table)
 HERE'S HOW
1. - 3.  Trace the table top on a large sheet of paper and then fold in half and half again 3 times to create "pie slice" folds
4.  Mark out 1/4 of the pattern with a marker
5. & 6. Center and mark the stencil in the middle of the pattern and 1/2 of the stencil around the edges
*This will help with your tile placement later
7.  Paint the entire table in Americana Decor Gold and let dry while you work on the tiles
8. Fill squirt bottles with Americana Decor in Adirondack, Gold, Morning Glory and Lily Pad
9.  Squirt small amounts of Adirondack, Morning Glory and Lily Pad on your Gel Press and use a brayer to lightly spread the colors
10. - 12.  Place the sticker paper on top, bray the back so "print" the paint and then carefully remove the sticker paper to reveal beautiful mottled pages
13. - 16.  Place the Tribal stencil on the Gel Press, bray Adirondack and Gold over it, remove the stencil and then Gel Press the stencil on top of the mottled pages
17. - 20.  Stick the pages to cardboard and cut out and 1/2 circles (from your pattern) using a craft knife
21. & 22.  Use the pattern to center a full circle tile in the middle of the table and the 1/2 circles evenly around the edges and then glue in place with E-6000 Glue
23. & 24.  Cut the rest of the cardboard into "broken" tiles and fill the rest of the table with pieces about 1/8" apart
25. & 26.  Create a barrier/lip around the table with two rows of 2" wide masking tape
*Make sure it sticks all the way around
27. & 28.  Mix the resin according to directions (I used 2 quarts) and then pour evenly on the tiles
29. & 30.  Smooth out the resin with a foam brush and then pop the bubbles with a small torch or long arm lighter
*Cover and cure overnight
31.  Once the resin is cured, remove the tape and sand rough edges with a sander or sandpaper
32.  Coat the sanded edges with a thin layer of resin and let cure again overnight

So proud and worth the effort!

Decoupaged Fabric Table Makeover

I can't stop dragging stuff home from the thrift store....I can't do it!  Tables, old silver, books, chairs.......I have a problem!  The one saving grace about this is that I have a job that actually requires me to haunt these places regularly so that I can create inspirational projects for all of you.  Still, I have no more room in my house, but that's another story.  Today we're tackling a simple side table with beautiful Ikat fabric I found at JoAnn Fabrics.  I used Americana Decor Maxx Gloss and some Americana Decoupage in gloss to put it all together.  In no time, this table went from drab to FAB.  (I love saying that)  Can someone please come over and take away some of this furniture?  Remember, make messes, have fun and don't forget to Make Your Mark!  xoxo
Tea for two
I love how the fabric instantly fixed up the scratched surface
The Americana Decoupage in Gloss dries to a super hard finish, too!
See how easy it is to do here
Stuff You'll Need
Thrift store table
Enough fabric to cover the top
Americana Decor Maxx Gloss (in a matching color)
*I used Caribbean Sea
Paintbrush
Scissors
Large sheet of butcher paper
1.  Press paper around the table top to create a pattern
2.  Trace around the crease with a pencil and cut out
3. & 4.  Pin to the fabric and carefully cut out the pattern
5. & 6. Pick a color of Maxx Gloss to match the fabric and stir thoroughly, don't shake
7.  Give the table 1 to 2 coats of Maxx Gloss (no need to sand, prime or prep)
8. & 9.  Coat the table top with Americana Decoupage
10.  Make sure there are no wrinkles and that the fabric is perfectly flat and in position
11.   Coat the entire piece of fabric with a generous amount of the Decoupage and let dry
12.  Optional:  Use a metallic gold paint pen to edge the table
