Gilded Hearts Valentine Wreath

I have a confession to make.....I don't like decorating for Christmas, but for some reason decorating for Valentine's Day is my THING!  I've always loved everything about the holiday.  The colors, the hearts, the champagne, the candy and the candy....Yes, I know I wrote that twice.

Head to the dollar store for some pool noodles before they run out!  They are the perfect base for almost all of your wreath projects, hands down.

YOU'LL NEED

Pool noodle

Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Romance and Innocence

Duct tape

Pink and red paper

Krylon Metallic Gold Short Cuts Pen

Fuzzy yarn

Glue gun

Paintbrushes

Scissors

 Bend the pool noodle into a circle and close with duct tape

Lightly score the edges with a craft knife if it doesn't make a perfect circle

Paint large stripes with chalky finish and let dry

Wrap fuzzy yarn around the wreath and glue ends in place with a glue gun

Cut out tons of paper hearts in red and pink in various sizes

Edge each heart with a gold metallic paint pen

Hot glue several sets of hearts, back to back, over a 1 yard lengths of fuzzy yarn 

*This will create kite tails to hang from the base of the wreath

Make about 5 of tails

Hot glue the hearts all around the wreath

Hot glue the kite tails to the base of the wreath

Candy Hearts Wind Chime (and Ornaments)

I'm sure by now you know how much I love Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint (I'd eat if I could)  A few weeks ago I realized that some of the colors were right out of a box of Valentine's Day conversation hearts!  From the moment I made that realization I decided to create a project just so I could use those colors.....and here it is.

YOU'LL NEED

Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Innocence, Delicate, Remembrance and Refreshing

Heart molds

Ribbon

Drill

Plaster of Paris

Wire

Wire cutters

12" piece of wood molding

Cut 4" long pieces of wire and bend them in a "U" shape with curved ends

Mix water with some plaster of Paris

Fill the molds about 1/2"

Place the "U" shapes in the plaster and let dry

Remove from the molds and paint with chalky finish

Mark every inch along the 12" piece of molding

Drill holes where you marked

Paint the molding and let dry

Arrange your plaster hearts

Cut ribbon to the desired length

Thread the ribbon through the holes and tie the hearts on each end

Add ribbon to the holes on each, tie in a bow and hang

Valentine's Day Candles

I love Valentine's Day but not for the reasons you might think. Ok, maybe it is for the reasons you think..... I LOVE CHOCOLATES! Every year my dad would buy my mom a HUGE heart filled with at least 100 chocolates. It was always beautifully decorated with satin, huge bows and tons of glitter. For years she saved every one of them in her memory closet.... until the divorce. That's when they were burned. But, I digress. When she got that box she would carefully cut each chocolate in half so that my brothers and I could find the ones we liked best.  

It will always be one of my favorite Valentine's Day memories. This year I'm making glittery pink and red candles to celebrate the holiday...... and eating tons of chocolates.

Mix all different sizes and patterns

YOU'LL NEED

Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Romance and Innocence

Tapered and/or regular candles

Fine gold glitter

White glue

Self stick labels

Hole punch

Scissors 

Paintbrush

Paint the candles with chalky finish and let dry

Trace and cut hearts from the self stick labels

Glue them face down to the candles and let dry

Peel off the protective backing to expose the label adhesive

Roll in glitter and brush off excess 

For polka dots, use a hole punch

Glue the dots face down to the candles and let dry

Peel off the backing

Roll in glitter and brush off excess

For the tapers, paint stripes with white glue and sprinkle with glitter
