NEED SOME NEW BEDDING? It's sew easy!

I KNOW, I KNOW.......BORING!  Well, at least I can save you some cash and a little frustration when you're trying to find pillow cases to match your new bedroom color.  Now you can make your own in no time and they'll look amazing.

Case in point!  

Here's the HOW to Video!

YOU'LL NEED

43" x 44" piece of fabric per case

Fiskars Pinking Shears

Sewing machine

Thread

43" of 1" wide ribbon

Fabric pencil

Ruler

Straight pins 

 Measure down  8" along one 43" side of your fabric

 Mark that line with your fabric pencil using your ruler

Pin the ribbon along that line

Stitch the ribbon on the fabric following the line as shown.   The stitch should be toward the edge of the ribbon.

Fold the fabric in half, matching the ribbons exactly! 

Fold over the ends (both of them) and pin in place 

Just like this!

Pin around the pillow case and ake your first stitch around the case. 

 When you're done, if you pull apart the area where you folded down the end, you can see that it finished itself, just like magic!

 Pink all the raw edges.

With the pillow case inside out, fold the end inside the case so that the edge of the flap lines up with the ribbon 

 Pin all the way around the mouth of the case

 Stitch around the mouth of the opening to the left of the original ribbon stitch. This will catch the ribbon in and finish your pillow case flap.

Stitch on the left side of the ribbon so that the original ribbon stitch so that the original stitch will be hidden.....You'll see! 

You're done!  Well, after you're done ironing anyway.

HE CRAFTS SHE CRAFTS.......IT'S IN THE CARDS!

I can't resist a deck of cards. I love the patterns, the waxy coating and how many variations in design there are.  I also can't resist when I find decks for 25 cents each!  This was the perfect item to send  Stephenie (www.mycraftyadventures.com) for our He Crafts She Crafts blog because cards are cheap and available.  At first I was thinking I would invent a new card game, but I racked my brain and shuffled around (get it!) and couldn't come up with anything.  Finally, BOOM!  I used them to mat some art pieces. Stephenie ROCKED this challenge with her GAME TIME PARTY by creating a chandelier up style, an invitation, a utinsil holder AND a banner!  I officially fold (see what I did there!)  Just a heads up, it can be tricky gluing waxy cards down but I found spray adhesive works really well.  I was actually able to try a NEW spray adhesive from one of my favorite companies that you can use INSIDE! Yes, you heard it here first.  Spray adhesive for use INSIDE...NO FUMES!  It's out in January and it's made by.........well, you'll have to wait, won't you.

YOU'LL NEED

Cardboard

Spray adhesive

Cards

Scissors

Double stick tape or glue stick

Small piece of art

Colorful paper or card stock 

Frames

Spray your cards and arrange them on your cardboard.

Lay something flat on top, weight them down so that they dry perfectly flat. 

Cut out your art and cut a small frame around it using some contrasting paper or card stock.

Double stick tape it or glue stick it to the contrasting paper. 

 Adhere it to the cards

 Arrange in your frame

 Finish up and hang!

The Crafty Chica Sugar Skull Patch Cuff!

A few weeks ago Crafty Chica sent me some lovely sugar skull patches from her new product line and I fell in love with them.  I NEEDED to figure out what to do with them because I truly wanted to wear them some how, some way.  On the instructions it said that they might not iron on to leather so I decided to use my gold standard glue, E-6000 and just put them right on the leather and not even worry about whether they could be ironed on!  It worked and I'm so pleased!

My Crafty Chica Sugar Skill Cuff....LOVE IT!

Here's the DIY video! 

 You'll need

Crafty Chica's Sugar Skull Patches OR some patches that you like

Vinyl or leather (enough to make a cuff)

E-6000 glue

Scissors

Leather punch

1/4" wide ribbon in a color you like

 Make your cuff pattern and trace it on to the leather or vinyl

Mark dots 1/2" apart all the way around 

Punch them out with your leather punch

 Thread the ribbon through the holes all the way aroun

 Secure the ribbon ends with a knot and glue the ends down with E-6000

 Glue on the patches with more E-6000

 Cut your Velcro for the closures

 Glue on the velcro on each side of the cuff

Let everything dry for AT LEAST 1/2 hour (or more)
