Scrap Fabric Lamp Makeover

When I was a kid I used to walk home from school past a clothing manufacturing company.  On my shortcut through the alley I would pass by the big dumpsters filled with piles of fabric scraps which I would stuff into my backpack and use for my craft projects.  For me it was like finding actual treasure!  This lamp is made with strips of fabric scraps from tons of different projects I've made over the years.  If you don't want to wrap a lamp, try wrapping an ornament or using it to wrap a gift!  Let nothing go to waste, my sweet friends, and always MAKE YOUR MARK!
LOVE all the colors!
Kooky, funky, colorful and fun!

Just glue and wrap!

Don't forget to add a bit more color on the socket!

Happy Scrappy Hanging Lamps

I can't tell you how many lampshades I end up with in my storage. TONS!  Some are in great shape, others are ready to be reimagined for my next video.  For these shades I wanted to create something whimsical, happy, light and magical and I couldn't be happier with them.  A few fabric scraps, faux flowers and butterflies and voila!  Perfect for a kids room, to hang on a patio or to brighten up a pure white space.  Not every shade needs to have fabric all the way around it, some look just great with a low watt soft bulb or with nothing at all.  Make something bright, my sweet friends, and always

Simple pearl trim makes a wonderful scalloped trim

A sweet little faux bird is the perfect touch!

Use a super soft clear bulb to make these shades sing!

Just use what you have and it will look amazing....Promise!

Whimsical Lamp Makeovers

I have the best thrift stores near my home and very often I can find lamps for $5 each for my DIY projects.  These ginger jar lamps were perfect for this whimsical makeover! I know the stripes aren't perfect but the lamps were just too heavy for my old record player hack.  Instead, I opted for using my lazy susan which was just fine.  I also ended up loving the wonky stripes a bit more.  There is something truly "handmade" about them!  Go nuts with fabrics and trims for your shades and just have fun!  For $5 you can experiment, right?!  Stay creative, awesome friends, and always

Marbled Thrift Store Lamp DIY!

I love a good thrift store find, don't you?  Who can resist a big white lamp for $5 bucks?  I certainly can't!  I decided to see if my spray paint marbling technique would work on this huge lamp base and to my great joy, it did.  While I was at it, I decided to give the lampshade a little makeover, too.  Why stop just at the base?  If you find a lamp that will work for this project and it's not already white, just spray paint it.  Have fun!
  xoxo, Mark
I love the gold base!  Shhh....It's painted wood.
Classic!
