Magical Resin Crystals DIY

Do you love crystals as much as I do? I'm obsessed with them...The stories behind them, the powers they possess and of course, the beauty they have.  I decided to make some of my own crystals (using this amazing silicone mold I found on the internet) and fill them with gold leaf flakes and good thoughts.  Now I have my own special crystals filled with just the things that are important to me.  You could even put a personal charm inside that might mean something special to you!  Heck, fill them with whatever you like!  Remember sweet friends, stay creative and always MAKE YOUR MARK!

Try different color combinations and fill them with things like special jewelry pieces, saint medals or small stones from your last amazing trip!

While you're pouring the resin, think about amazing things that have happened in your life OR think about the things you want to happen in your life!  Yes, I know, very hippy dippy, but I love having reminders that our lives can be what we make them!

Petri Dish Resin Hearts

This is the easiest project for someone who is just starting to dabble in resin.  The results are beautiful and you can use them for everything from paperweights to suncatchers.  I have a bunch hanging in my kitchen window and a few strewn across my coffee table.  The fun part of this project is that you won't know what they'll look like until you take them out of the molds.  Go bold with color and experiment with different glitters for some terrific results.  I promise you'll be pleasantly surprised!  Try something new, my sweet friends, and always Make Your Mark!

Resin Butterfly Trays

Not sure how I ended up with 20 of these pressed tin trays from Dollar Tree, but I did.  Pretty sure instinctively I knew that one day inspiration would strike and they would be on hand for a project.  At least that's what my inner hoarder whispers every time I'm at the register or filling my cart late at night online.  While cleaning out my desk I found some beautiful butterfly printouts and it finally came to me...Butterfly trays!  A little paint and some resin in the base to protect them and they look like a million bucks.  Well, not a million, but definitely more than the 99c I paid for them.  Everything can be transformed and made more beautiful, my sweet friends!  Think of the caterpillar and the butterfly while you Make Your Mark!

I can't decide which to keep by my front door for keys and mail...Hmmm.

Sparkly Mosaic Cactus DIY

Grab all of that craft STUFF you've been hoarding and glue it on a Walnut Hollow wood cactus!  Yup, that's how easy it is.  I used green and blue beads, gems and buttons for this project, but it's really about the shape of your base and using what you have.  Pour some resin over the top and you have something sparkly to add some charm to your patio.  Put a stake on it and plop it in the garden!  Why not?!  It's all about mash-up mosaics, my friends.  Oh, and don't forget to Make Your Mark!

Faux Stained Glass

Picture it.....3rd grade art class in early December sometime in the late 70s and I'm rocking a tissue paper stained glass & construction paper masterpiece for the holidays.  Cut to a few weeks ago when I channeled that chubby, glue obsessed 3rd grader and made a tissue stained glass project that's a bit more permanent.  I coated this number with Glaze Coat resin and now I can have it in my house or garden forever!  This is a fantastic way to UP-style an old window pane or even make a piece of art.  Remember to stick to the basics, use simple craft supplies and always Make Your Mark!

STUFF I USED

Old window pane

Tissue paper

Americana Decoupage in Gloss

Allure in Gloss Black

Glaze Coat (2 part epoxy resin)

Small torch or long arm lighter

1. & 2.  Sketch out your design and place it under the glass window to use as a guide

3. 4. & 5.  Cut out large ovals, 1" circles and different color green leaves in tissue paper

6. Cut small oval holes in the large ovals and then use that smaller oval as a guide to cut out the same size oval in a different color

*These for for the center of the large oval flowers

7. 8. & 9.  Decoupage the large oval flowers and the different color centers on the glass and then add the dots and leaves

10.  Fill the empty spaces with large light green leaves

11.  Outline the flowers, dots and leaves with the Allure in Gloss black and let dry

12. & 13.  Mix the Glaze Coat (follow instructions) and pour it on top of the glass

14.  Evenly spread the Glaze Coat with a sponge brush

15.  Pop the bubbles with a small torch OR a long arm lighter

*Cover and let cure

Let the sunshine in!
