Boho Festival Bags

I've been seeing amazing Boho Bags and Purses all over Pinterest so I thought it was time to make a few.  Since I save every scrap of fabric and piece of yarn, it just made sense.  So this project even more fun, I enlisted the help of my awesome assistant, Julie.  When we were done with our bags we  had a serious "modeling" competition so you'll have to watch the video and vote for WHO WORE IT BEST!  In the mean time, grab your big box of craft stuff and go to town making these beautiful boho bags.  Remember to mix up your patterns and textures. 

Oh, and always MAKE YOUR MARK!

STUFF I USED

E-6000 Fabri-Fuse

Thrift store purses

Various colorful fabrics

Sequin appliques

Americana Decoupage for Fabric

E-6000 Glue

DecoArt Patent Leather Paint

Trims, ribbons, yarn and fringe

 AGATE CLOSURE PURSE

1.  Paint around the flap of the purse with DecoArt Patent Leather paint

*Awesome paint for leather and vinyl

2. Glue fabric on the flap of the purse with E-6000 Fabri-Fuse

3.  Decoupage another fabric on the body of the purse with Americana Fabric Decoupage

4.  Glue fringe around the fabric on the flap 

5.  Cut very long pieces of rtim and glue them to the base of the body of the purse and let dry

6.  Cover the ends of the fringe with large sequin appliques (or lace)

7.  Glue more trim around the edges

8.  Tie tassels and more trim to the rings on the side of the purse that hold the straps

9.  Glue a large piece of jewelry (or agate slice like I did) over the closure

10. Stencil flowers and swirls on the body of the bag with DecoArt Patent Leather Paint

11.  Decoupage fabric on the flap with Americana Fabric Decoupage

12.  Glue long fringe on the base of the bag with E-6000 Fabri-Fuse

13.  Cover the tops of the fringe with large sequin appliques

14.  Ad more sequin appliques on the front

15.  Done!

Spring Shoe Makeover

Toss them or make them brand new with the ONLY paint on the market that is specially formulated for leather and vinyl?  DecoArt Patent Leather Paint is super easy to use and it doesn't crack or peel!  (I love the stuff)  Add some floral embellishments and you have a pair of shoes worthy of the runway.  Donating is wonderful, but getting a 2nd wind out of your tired pieces is always good too.  Remember to reuse, recycle and always Make Your Mark!

STUFF I USED

DecoArt Patent Leather Paint

Vintage Shoes

Americana Fabric Decoupage

Floral Fabrics

HERE'S HOW

1. & 2. Paint your shoes with 2 coats of Patent Leather and let dry

3.  Cut our various flowers from cotton floral fabrics

4. & 5.  Coat the back of the flowers with Americana Fabric Decoupage

6. Adhere to the shoes and coat the flowers again with more Fabric Decoupage and let dry

Runway ready!

Tribal Chair Makeover

I decided to go a little nuts with this project just to see if the new DecoArt Patent Leather Paints were up to the test of a pleather chair!  Guess what?  They worked perfectly!  Many people have this style of chair and these paints are perfect for adding a little color without cracking, peeling or scratching.  I even show you how to add trim to vinyl with hot glue so that it doesn't fall off!  Remember to add spice to everything, rethink boring objects and always Make Your Mark!

STUFF I USED

Pleather dining chairs

Americana Decor Stencil and Satin Enamels

DecoArt Patent Leather Paint

Cosmetic sponges

Fringe and Ribbon

Hot glue gun

 HERE'S HOW

1. After you secure your stencil in place with tape, dab some Patent leather on a cosmetic sponge

2. Carefully and lightly add coats of the paint over the stencil to insure clean lines

3. Tape around the leather/pleather part of the chair to protect it while you paint the legs

4. Paint the legs with Americana Decor Satin Enamels in the color of your choice

5. Pencil on the chair where you would like to add ribbon and trim

*I penciled along the back of the chair and around the seat to insure the trim was evenly glued

6.  Using sandpaper, scratch the area where you will be gluing the trim

*Make sure you're certain where you will be applying the trim and rough it up!

7. Hot glue the trim along the lines on the rough areas moving quickly

8. & 9.  Glue the fringe first (below the line) and then the ribbon over the top of the fringe
