Glowing Mermaid Lanterns DIY

Just like Ariel, I have gizmos and gadgets aplenty.  I'm talking beads, glass chips, rhinestones, seashells, pearls and sea glass in piles in drawers just waiting for a project.  These mermaid lanterns were the perfect project to make use of that stash of crafty treasure AND to give me a tiny taste of summer which is just a few months away!  Print out some mermaid images and grab a few 99c store frames and you're ready to get started.  I used a twinkly, battery operated tea light in the back to give it that magical, watery glow and they look absolutely beautiful when the sun goes down.  Create your own magical environment and don't forget to

Glass Candle Holders

Beads, Seashells, Pearls, Glass Chips, Tiny Glass Cabochons

Craft Twinkles in Crystal & Americana Acrylics in Sea Breeze

Fish Scale Stencil

 HERE'S HOW

1.  Remove the glass and stencil the frame with Americana Acrylics in Sea Breeze

2.  Add a layer of Craft Twinkles over the stenciled frame

3.  Decoupage a mermaid image on the back of the glass

4.  Glue the glass inside the frame with E6000 PLUS

5. - 6.  Glue seashells, pearls, rhinestones, glass cabochons & glass chips on the front

of the frame around the mermaid image

7.  Add a layer of Craft Twinkles in Crystal over the seashells

8.  Glue a small glass candle holder to the back of the frame

9.  Add a battery operated tea light inside the candle holder

Look at this stuff!  Isn't it neat?

Rainbow Lucky Star Banner DIY

It's the last day of 2018 and I wanted to make something that embodied my hope for 2019.  A rainbow of colors, shooting stars to represent hope and some sparkles to remind me to keep shining.  This banner is perfect for a kid's room, a craft room or as party decor.  Check out the video below to see how I made it.  I wish you an amazing 2019 filled with love, success and hope.

Corrugated Cardboard Ornaments DIY

Recently I got some corrugated cardboard in some packaging and like that weird kid who only cares about the box and not the gift, I went crazy!  So crazy I bought another huge roll of it on Ebay to keep making things with it.  My first project was these ornaments...I LOVE them!  Just roll them up with a little glue, paint and then glitterize them.  So easy!  Kids will love making them, too. I used DecoArt Extreme Sheens because they come in bright, metallic colors.   Definitely grab a few next time you're at the craft supply store.  Remember to use up that holiday cardboard and always

Pattern for Ornaments

Print out for reference, but you'll need to cut your patterns 

on larger paper.  I used a large manilla folder for

my patterns.

HERE'S HOW

1. & 2.  Trace  & cut your pattern from corrugated cardboard

3.  Starting from largest piece to smallest, Roll and hot glue them together

4.  Paint them with DecoArt Extreme Sheen paint and let dry

5. Glitterize them with DecoArt Craft Twinkles

6. Add a wire to hang them from the top using a dab of hot glue

Optional:  Add a pipe cleaner at the top for some extra sparkle

Queen Elsa's Jewels from FROZEN!

Have FROZEN obsessed kiddos around the house?  Here's a quick and easy way to make Frozen accessories that won't break the bank.  This week we're taking a page out of Queen Elsa's style book and making a hair band, hair pins AND a snowflake medallion.  My fantastic assistant Danielle looks amazing as Elsa!  She even had this dress hanging in her closet which was perfect for our photo shoot.  Have fun a and stay cool!

YOU'LL NEED

Americana Acrylic in baby pink and white

DecoArt Craft Twinkles

Chipboard medallions and snowflakes from Globecraft Piccolo

E-6000 glue

Snowflake Confetti

Stick on gems

Bobby pins

Plastic hair band

Paintbrush

Ribbon

 1.  Paint your medallion baby pink and let dry.

2.  Glue on a snowflake with E-6000 glue (white glue won't work for this)

3.  Coat with DecoArt Craft Twinkles in Crystal

 4.  Add stick on rhinestone around the snowflake.

5.  Add a ribbon to the medallion and tie around your neck.

7.  Coat it in more Craft Twinkles

8.  Glue snowflake confetti around the headband with E-6000.

9.  Add stick on gems to the snowflakes.

10. Glue on the large snowflake and more rhinestones.

11.  Glue the snowflake confetti to the ends of the bobby pins.  It helps if you put the pins on a small piece of cardboard.

12.  Add stick on gems or dabs of Craft Twinkles to the snowflakes and let dry.
