Dollar Store Pendant Lamp.....

Head to the dollar store and grab two matching colorful bowls (almost any style will work) and you're half way there to creating this beautiful hanging pendant lamp! 

For this project I used an eco friendly bulb and insist that you do the same. Regular bulbs give off too much heat and WILL melt the plastic where eco friendly bulbs are perfect for this kind of project.

Wiffle Ball DNA Lamp - GEEK CRAFT!

WIFFLE BALL DNA LAMP

“Piffle” means nonsense, and wiffle balls are anything but. In fact, I happen to think that the wiffle ball will make its way into every crafty person’s arsenal very soon. They are just too cool to overlook, and their uses are many. For instance, I very much enjoy tossing them at my assistant to get his attention. 

This lamp is perfect for a kid's room or for the scientist in your family.

Give it a go!

YOU’LL NEED:

1 cord and socket set

Ruler

Pencil

Dremmel

12 large wiffle balls

12 small wiffle balls

Small piece of heavy-duty sandpaper or sanding block

1 small ECO-FRIENDLY light bulb (these do not give off heat)

3 yards white nylon heavy-duty string, plus extra for hanging your lamp

Small wall hook, for hanging your finished lamp

Measure the circumference of your socket in your cord and socket set.

Draw a hole the size of your socket on one of your large wiffle balls, and cut itout with your Dremmel.

Sand off the rough edges with the sandpaper or sanding block.

Attach your bulb to the socket and insert it into the wiffle ball, making sure that it fits in the ball properly.

String the remaining wiffle balls on the nylon string as if you were making a big wiffle ball necklace.

Add the wiffle ball that is connected to the cord and socket by stringing the cord through the wiffle jumble and wrapping the cord around the string so it stays in place.

Hang the lamp, plug it in, and enjoy the wiffley glow.

Military Jacket DIY.......Sew easy!

I love the military style.  Maybe it's the epaulettes or the gold bouillon

or all of the super cool patches, I don't know.  All I know is that uniforms have always fascinated me.  This jacket can be made in tons of different ways.  For example you could use leather instead of vinyl or you could use less plackets down the front.  It's up to you.  Any way you tackle this project I'm positive you can make it amazing!  How do I know this you wonder?  Because my fans are truly talented!  Have fun and make sure to share with me when you're done, ok!

He Crafts She Crafts.......And she did it this time!

BOOK PAGE WREATH

As you may know, my friend Stephenie (www.mycraftyadventures.com) and I have a blog segment together called HE CRAFTS SHE CRAFTS.  For this installment she sent me an old book ready for the scrap heap.  Now let me tell you about Steph.  She's a love bug and a very good friend.  When you're good friends with someone you KNOW just how to hook them!  She knew that I would eat this challenge up.  This one is for you, Stephenie, and for all of the people who don't know what to do with an old book when it's time to toss it.
BTW, since I'm not the biggest fan of wreaths, I decided that a wreath is just what I needed to do to challenge myself creatively.

YOU'LL NEED

Book pages

Scissors

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Elmer's Glue All

1 pool noodle

Packing tape

Metallic Gold Krylon spray paint

HERE'S HOW

 1.  Tape the ends of your pool noodle together with packing tape.

2.  Roll 3"x5" book pages in to straws and secure with Elmer's Glue-All. 

3.  Cut out TONS of leaves

4. Cut out tons of petals 1 1/2" to 2"  by 1 1/2" wide (about 12 per rose)
5. Curl the edges of the petals as shown with one edge of your scissor.

6. Hot glue the petals (with the curled side facing outward) to the book page straw.

 7. Continue adding petals all the way around until you've created your flower.

 8. Curl the edges of your leaves and glut around the pool noodle with hot glue.  This will take some time so sit back and watch a movie while you're at it!

* Leave an empty space at the bottom for your flowers.  I glued the flowers where the ends of the pool noodle met just in case the wreath base wasn't a perfect circle.

9.  Glue your flowers to the base of your wreath and lightly dust with gold spray paint.   I made a cascade of vines and smaller flowers to hang down from the bottom center.
