Romantic Dresser Makeover

Every once in a while something comes along that just blows my mind!  The new Re•Design With Prima furniture decals did just that.  What a way to transform a piece of furniture in the most beautiful way!  This was a simple Ikea Rast dresser but wow does it make an impact.  I find the decals work best on light colored furniture and you want to make sure that if you paint your piece first, let it dry for at least 24 hours before you apply the decals.  Give everything a facelift and don't forget to Make Your Mark!
I used Unicorn SPiT in White Ning to get this bleached Farmhouse look!

Watch how I did it here!
HERE'S HOW
1.  Stain a plain wood dresser with Unicorn SPiT in White Ning.  It's perfect for a farmhouse look!
*Make sure to seal it with a spray or paint on lacquer when you're done
2.  Spread out your Re•Design With Prima furniture decals so you know the order of the pattern
3.  Trim them to fit on the dresser drawers making sure to save the pieces in case they need to be put on the adjoining drawer to create the whole pattern
4.  Follow the instructions for rubbing the decals on the furniture making sure to get every part
5.  Carefully remove the protective paper while you rub any spots that you might have
missed the first time
6.  Once the decals are on perfectly, coat the top with a paint on water-based lacquer
*I like Minwax Polycrylic
7. & 8.  For some interest on the sides I used the Prima Chalk Paste for some dimensional interest and to pick up a color from the decal
9. Spray the handles gold and reattach to the dresser and you're done!

Iridescent Dresser Makeover with Unicorn SPiT Sparkling

If you follow me then you know I'm obsessed with anything that looks iridescent or like an oil slick.  Lately I've been experimenting with the new Unicorn SPiT Sparkling from Eclectic Products and I'm pretty close to figuring the whole iridescent, oil slick mystery!  The Unicorn SPiT Sparkling  looks absolutely magical sponged over flat black and I am now convinced that very soon, everything in my house will be painted like this!   Remember to give your old furniture a makeover before you decide to get rid of it.  Also, don't forget to Make Your Mark!
 Love the shimmer!
The green really does it for me!

STUFF I USED
Thrift Store Nightstand
Brass Drawer Pulls
Old sponges
Rust-Oleum Clear Lacquer
Krylon Flat Black Spray Paint
 HERE'S HOW
1.  Clean the dresser to make sure it's free of dirt and dust
2.  Unscrew the old handles
3.  Spray paint the entire dresser in flat black and let dry
4. - 6.  Dab the Unicorn SPiT Sparkling on one color at a time starting with Golden Gosling, Sapphire Swift, Violet Vulture, Lavish Lovebirds and finally Starling Sasha
*Really dab it on!
7.  Coat the entire dresser in 3 coats of clear gloss lacquer when the Unicorn SPiT Sparkling is dry
8.  Use a gold paint marker to accent the edges
9.  Add new brass handles to bring it all together

Underwater Dresser

I saw this sad little dresser at a thrift store just begging me to take him home.  Seems the broken tracks on the drawers were a "no deal" for any other potential buyer, but not for me!  A little glue, a few nails and he was good as new!  Recently I was inspired by a beautiful two-tone desk and decided to give the technique a try with a few little differences.  I added hints of gold to highlight the edges and details and compliment the hardware.  What a difference a little bit of paint makes, right!  Remember to always give your old furniture a second chance with a coat of paint.  Oh, and always Make Your Mark!
Styled on the back porch and waiting for a room inside my house!
The glorious gold details!

Watch how to make it here!
STUFF I USED
Thrift store dresser
 HERE'S HOW
1. Remove the hardware
2. Paint the edges and details in metallic gold and let dry
3.  Paint over the metallic gold with the clear cream wax and let dry
4.  Paint the top 1/3 of the dresser in Adirondack chalky finish
5.  Blend the lower part of the Adirondack area with Honor chalky finish
6.  Continue painting the lower half of the dresser in Honor
7.  Using a rag or fine sandpaper, rub the areas that were painted with wax to expose the metallic gold
8.  Spray paint the hardware in bright metallic gold
9.  Seal the chalky finish with a light satin varnish
So in love!

Roadside Rescue Nightstand Makeover

I can't do it....I can't pass up a piece of perfectly good furniture on the side of the road.  I at least have to TRY to spruce it up.  Hey, if it doesn't work out, I can always put it back outside again, right?  This little nightstand looked so lonely when I saw it on my street corner and because it was so kooky, I decided to go nuts with it.  I discovered something amazing while working on it, too......the new Americana Decor Satin Enamels will paint over ANYTHING and make it look brand new.  Remember to have fun, rescue furniture and always Make Your Mark!
Still not sure where this little guy is going to end up...

Watch the video here!
