How to make a Necktie Obi Belt!

When I owned my shop in NYC we made this necktie belt over and over again.  It started with trying to figure out a chic way to make a belt that would give everyone a terrific shape and be super easy to wear.  This is what we came up with.  It's almost like a mini corset and since it ties around the front, it fits everyone (even me).  Hey, I just wanted to see what it looked like!
I was able to find 2 matching neckties at the 99c store for this project.
How to video!
Pin your ties together in a criss cross as shown.
Spiral quilt them starting at the outer edges working your way inward.
Make sure to use Fray Check (or a little bit of Super Glue) for the edges on the underside!
Oh, by the way, this project is from

  2. You are the most clever guy! Love me my fray check AND super glue. I keep multiple super glues because they usually dry up about the time I need more! Love your blog and FB posts!
